Let's hope this year has opened a generous gate to opportunities and to find the best ways to evolve on personal and professional level. Since the very beginning of this winter month there has been celebrated the first Public Domain Day (01.01.10). The visibility to this matter that the event attracted should not be let us indifferent as specialists for we must understand this particular opportunity to enrich our cultural and scientific background for our users every and each passing year. For us as information science specialists these developments are only coming as an open gate to bring more valuable sources that may be exploited for the benefit of our institutions and also serving an increasingly demand for quality sources and content from our patrons. Let us support COMMUNIA's efforts and popularize their findings and valuable project outcomes.
A few days ago there has been released the Public Domain Manifesto, as a result of COMMUNIA's Work Group 6 based on the corresponding idea issued on the first conference organised by this thematic network in 2009. The text of this manifest was translated also into Romanian language and there is to be posted on the main site - http://publicdomainmanifesto.org. I encourage you all to haelp your fellow colleagues translating the text in your native language and doing so raising awareness on this particular aspect that affects us all. Some more details may be gathered and further put to debate on the original site at the “about” section.
